Judy Ritter's wit and charming way of writing will get you itching to use her techniques even if you thought you'd hate it.

Judy started Whiteworks in 1998.  At that time, her husband half joked, half seriously suggested she go into business. She's been happily sewing ever since. She notes, "Customers have some very definite ideas as to what they want."

None of this, Judy comments, would have begun without having found Martha's Sewing Room on PBS one day. Coming across it while channel-surfing, she points out that she owes Pullen quite a big thank you.

Judy is our resident ezine guru who is helping to keep everyone on our toes.

Melissa Roberts

Melissa Roberts has been studying and collecting nineteenth century plain needlework for many years. She enjoys sewing and embroidery whenever her "other life" as a teacher permits, but takes as much pleasure in researching the history of needlework as in doing it herself. Her current project is translating nineteenth century French needlework and dressmaking texts. She and her husband live in the mountains of northeast Georgia.

Some of Melissa's vast knowledge can be found at her site, Hollis and Bell.

Betty Pillsbury

From her home high in the hills of New York State, Betty Pillsbury creates works of art that suit her fancy. She taught herself embroidery at the age of eight and continues to experiment with many techniques. In addition, she has an extensive library of antique and modern sources and collects vintage textiles.

In 1990, while living in England, she read a magazine article on crazy quilting that changed her life. She reflects it is a medium she loves best in that it combines many techniques into one cohesive whole.

Betty has appeared on HGTV, the PBS production Quilting Nebraska and teaches throughout the U.S. For more information visit her website.
